During the month of Shravan (July-August), thousand of Hindus undertake an arduous 32KM pilgrimage through the scenic Himalayas to worship a very special symbol of Lord Shiva- an ice stalagmite-lingam which that forms each year in the cave of Amarnath at the end of the Lidder Valley in Kashmir
The story goes that a holy man gave Buta Malik a bag of charcoal to heat his home.When he got home, the shepherd found to his amazement that the bag was full of Gold coins.Overcome with joy, he rushed back to thank saint but could not find him. Instead, he discovered the sacred cave and the ice Lingam. He told the villagers of his discovery and pilgrims have been coming to the cave ever since.
As per Purana, Lord Shiva announced that whoever visited Amarnath cave would attain Moksha, freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
A permit required to perform this fascinating pilgrimage.
To obtain it, you have to undergo a blood test, lung scan and cardiovascular check-up in an approved Indian hospital and register with one of the bank listed by the yatra organisation.

  • If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain trips or activities may get cancelled. In such cases operator will try their best to provide an alternate feasible. However a cash refund will not be applicable for the same.
